Net boost for L&G agents

Legal & General has teamed up with UK property portal 08004homes.com in a bid to boost traffic to its own estate agent web sites and further increase their chances of completing on-line sales.

By amalgamating the property for sale or rent through the L&G network it’s thought that by the end of the year some 30,000 homes will be for sale online.

Would-be buyers will be able to access property details direct from 08004homes.com or via their agent’s own site. More and more would-be homebuyers are turning to the internet as a first port of call as it's an efficient and rapid way of searching for a property. Meanwhile sellers are demanding that their property be advertised on the net to reach as many potential buyers as possible.

But Duncan Crocker, Legal & General’s director of business partnerships, said: "The independent local estate agent is key to our distribution strategy and we believe they will continue to perform a vital role in the house moving process."

Crocker added: "This link will now increase the business being driven through to agents’ web sites. Not only will this increase the number of customers on their books but also it will increase their opportunities to recommend mortgages and financial services."
