MSN reveals press benefits

The survey was strongly supported by all of the leading press publications (both print and online), and was put in front of an estimated 20,000 industry representatives. Of the responses generated, over 80 per cent were completed by practicing mortgage brokers and IFAs, acknowledging the quality of databases used by the press.

The detailed statistics are being digested at present, but it is already clear that mortgage brokers and IFAs use an average of three printed publications to keep abreast of industry news, with around 53 per cent of readers utilising these publications on a weekly basis.

Interestingly, mortgage brokers and IFAs currently have a smaller online habit in that they make use of an average of only two online publications. However a larger number (74 per cent) of these individuals do so on a daily basis. This suggests a real appetite for the up-to-the-minute and frequent news updates made possible by web-based resources.

Jason Graham, managing director of Mortgage Support Network, commented: “The fantastic support from all the mortgage press in ensuring this independent survey reached as many practicing mortgage professionals as possible has to be commended and I thank them for that. It enabled us to gather broker’s feedback on the usefulness of both the printed and online press resources and I am sure we will have some interesting results to share over coming weeks so watch this space.”
