Mortgages Direct deploys Competent Adviser

The fully online solution addresses the requirements of both the MCCB and FSA Fitness & Competence regimes for ongoing monitoring of all advisers and for the delivery of appropriate ongoing training.

The Competent Adviser software utilises a comprehensive database of syllabus-based learning material and related question banks, together with an extensive range of regulatory and other relevant material. Companies are also able to load up all of their own training materials and operational procedure documents. By using this system, Mortgages Direct will be able to offer individual online assessment, highly targeted training and full regulatory audit trails at a significantly lower cost than traditional methods, helping to reduce the burden of the new regulation in its financial services business.

Dorking based Competent Adviser Ltd, also provides a range of traditional training products, including the highly successful 'Fast Track' mortgage courses.

Peter Gladdy, Group Compliance Director, Mortgages Direct Ltd explains: 'The deployment of the Competent Adviser T&C software will play an important part in readying our business for full mortgage & insurance regulation. The software has enabled us to rapidly convert all of our existing product and regulatory training programmes to take advantage of the online benefits of the Competent Adviser solution. As a result, we are now able, at a fraction of the cost of traditional solutions, to regularly reassess individual training needs and to deploy a combination of generic and our own tailored learning materials to address these needs, in a fully auditable way. We are delighted with the solution.'

Competent Adviser Managing Director Chris Heard says: 'Our T&C solution and complementary training services are designed to help firms meet the new training and competency requirements with minimum fuss and at a manageable cost. We are pleased to have been chosen by Mortgages Direct and look forward to working closely with them in the build up to full FSA regulation.'
