Millionaire aims to set up new bank

The 40-year old Lancashire-based entrepreneur, David Fishwick, says he will give loans to businesses struggling to get help from Britain’s biggest banking players.

He plans to start the bank with his own cash, will not take a huge salary or bonuses, will slash red tape and will give all profits to charity. He aims to be in profit in 180 days.

Fishwick, who runs Britain's biggest minibus supplier, vowed: "My bank may be tiny but it will be better than a high street bank."

His “Bank of Dave” will also reportedly offer help and advice like traditional bank managers.

He said: "Hard-working and honest people can no longer get loans. I can't do much worse than the greedy and reckless banks."

Fishwick, who left school without qualifications, sponsors Burnley FC and other local football teams.

The project will feature in a three-part Channel 4 series Bank Of Dave to air next year.
