MI hires ex-broker Sam Cordon as reporter

No stranger to the mortgage industry Cordon worked as a broker for Salford-based Cartel Marketing for two years before leaving the firm in 2006 to join Blemain Group as secured loan underwriter.

After six months Cordon joined Blemain’s mortgage division, Cheshire Mortgage Corporation, before being promoted to head her own team of underwriters specialising in higher risk cases.

After five years with the lender Cordon left to pursue journalism and completed her training with News Associates in Manchester this summer.

She said: “I couldn’t believe my luck when I saw Mortgage Introducer was looking for a reporter. As a lender I read the magazine regularly to keep up to date with market news.

“Being able to combine my industry knowledge and my love of writing and meeting people is a perfect combination - I was over the moon when Sarah and Robyn asked me to join the team.”

Sarah Davidson, editor of Mortgage Introducer, said: “Sam’s knowledge and expertise in the mortgage market will be a big asset for the magazine – she understands first hand how hard it is out there for brokers.

“She’s the best of both worlds being a great writer and a seasoned industry professional.”

Robyn Hall, publisher of Mortgage Introducer, added: “Sam has firsthand knowledge of how the industry works which will be invaluable for the magazine and we hope, the industry as a whole.”
