McGinn quits Abbey

He has decided to resign after 16 years at Abbey as he now wants a change of direction in his career.

The Abbey for Intermediaries team will now report into Tim Murley, Managing Director, Intermediary and Specialist Banking, subject to FSA approval. Tim has been with Abbey for 19 years, and many of the areas he manages also sell their products through intermediaries. These are Cater Allen (Abbey’s private bank), commercial mortgages, Abbey International (Abbey’s offshore Jersey-based business) and small business banking.

Ambrose McGinn said “I have had a long and fascinating career with Abbey, but the time feels right for a change. I’m really looking forward to relaxing with the family for a while, and considering a wide range of options for my next career move.

“I know that Abbey remains firmly committed to the intermediary business, and I look forward to seeing its continued growth and success.”

Tim Murley said “Ambrose has been a key player in the intermediary market, and while we will all be sorry to say goodbye to him, I am really looking forward to taking over the reins.

“This is a great part of Abbey’s business, and one where we have the potential to develop much further. This year, intermediaries will see we are really serious about improving further the service we give them, and the range of packages we offer.”
