Make an exhibition of yourself

Mortgage Business Expo returns to Earls Court 2 this month (15-16 November).

Now in its fourth year, the show is firmly established as the industry’s leading trade event and attracts a growing number of visitors who recognise it as an opportunity to research the newest products and services, meet and maintain relationships with industry contacts, and identify new revenue streams for 2007.

Over 230 companies have signed up to this year’s event, 48 of which are exhibiting for the very first time.

Show debutants

Quick Bridge, whose approach to bridging loans is targeted primarily at mortgage intermediaries, will debut at the show. Quick Bridge will enable brokers to meet the growing demand from property investors, developers and speculators, by offering an industry changing approach to financial lending.

Broker 2 Broker Loans is another newly formed company that will launch at Mortgage Business Expo. The company only deals with introduced leads and appoints a dedicated loan consultant who is the sole contact for IFAs and clients throughout the course of the application, therefore removing the confusion sometimes caused by a call centre environment.

Some other companies that will be making their show debut are 5D Finance, edeus, Unity, AXA, and Primrose.

Pavillions

In addition to the leading providers exhibiting, Expo boasts some informative and interesting new pavilions. After carefully monitoring developments in the industry and feedback from intermediaries, this year’s show includes two brand new features: The International Property Investment Pavilion (IPI) and the Equity Release Pavilion.

The IPI Pavilion will showcase up to 30 of the world’s top property developers who are looking to build lucrative partnerships with financial intermediaries. Research shows that the number of Brits investing abroad is expected to reach 11 million (Office of National Statistics) within the next five years and that is why the Pavilion has been created. With so much interest in overseas property it’s essential for intermediaries to gain the necessary contacts and knowledge to enable them to confidently introduce their clients to such a variety of investment opportunities.

A visit to the IPI Pavilion is not to be missed; gain access to the latest information on emerging markets and international property hot spots, as well as learning the key cultural, legal and political issues specific to countries and regions.

The Equity Release Pavilion, in association with Lifetime Advisory Services, will help those intermediaries looking to deliver the best advice on equity release to their clients. With a dedicated seminar programme covering the key issues and developments in the market, and some of the leading providers (Hodge Equity Release, Bridgewater, Retirement Plus, Just Retirement, Norwich Union, Key Retirement Solutions, Home & Capital, Stonehaven) looking to give advice and insight, a visit to the Equity Release Pavilion at Mortgage Business Expo will benefit any intermediary.

With more and more clients looking for advice on overseas property and Equity Release, the Pavilions are an excellent new addition to Expo. Both will open up new revenue opportunities for visitors, while highlighting some of the key features that will enable them to give their clients the best and most up-to-date advice.

Seminars

With two seminar theatres at the show, both days have busy schedules with speakers from leading industry figures. Hosted by the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) and the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries (AMI), the seminars unite media spokespeople, industry practitioners and industry experts with intermediaries to discuss, debate and unravel industry legislation, topical, and often contentious issues and to examine the growth potential of new markets.

The highly informative presentations will deal with the most pertinent issues of the day. Speakers include the industry’s leading spokespeople and acknowledged experts. Like the rest of Expo, the seminars are free.

AMI’s programme, entitled ‘Exploring New Frontiers’ covers topics ranging from the housing market to building your business. Located in Seminar Theatre One, the programme will provide a vision of the mortgage broker’s future – new markets, new types of mortgages, new perspectives and new regulation.

The CML programme, presented in Seminar Theatre Two, is entitled ‘Facing the Future as a Mortgage Intermediary in a Complex World’. This programme explores the newer challenges facing brokers, including ‘Treating Customers Fairly’ and preparing for an FSA mystery shop. In addition, it will explore the range of both residential and commercial lending areas that may provide visitors with profitable channels for new business.
