LMS forges alliances with home inspector assessment centres

These are BRE (Building Research Establishment) and IMBM (Institute of Maintenance and Building Management).

LMS will work with BRE and IMBM to encourage members of its 900 strong existing surveyor panel and other experienced practitioners from the building industry, to sign up with either of these assessment centres.

An introduction through LMS will provide potential Home Inspectors with benefits during assessment, in addition to receiving a steady flow of Home Condition Report instructions post qualification.

Each centre offers different styles of assessment and training programmes with BRE combining hands-on training and induction with online assessment, whilst the IMBM programme is also online but includes three residential weekends.

Registering with BRE, in association with LMS, will entitle candidates to one year's FREE subscription to BRE Connect, the subscription-based information service from BRE Bookshop giving exclusive access to the unrivalled expertise and insight of BRE, the UK's leading centre of knowledge on buildings, construction, energy, environment, fire and risk.

In addition, candidates will receive a Home Inspector pocket guide for those everyday queries which need resolving on site.

LMS wants to assist Home Inspectors to ensure they provide the best service possible when completing HCRs.

IMBM is the only specialist building maintenance Institute in the UK and is pre-eminent in the field of maintenance and condition surveys.

In addition, the Institute has a long history of delivering competence based qualifications similar in structure to the Home Inspector Diploma.

All IMBM Assessors are expert condition surveyors and will provide close mentoring support to all HI Diploma candidates.

LMS is seeking to establish preferential rates for LMS candidates registering on the IMBM programme.

John Archbold, Head of Survey and Valuation Services at LMS commented: "We are delighted to be working with BRE and IMBM to promote the qualification of HIs. LMS will be instructing thousands of HCRs per week and we are keen to establish relationships with as many Home Inspectors as possible".
