Lloyds Banking Group swoops on big name from HSBC

Lloyds Banking Group has announced the appointment of Amanda Fenner (pictured) as new head of Halifax Intermediaries and Scottish Widows Bank.

Fenner joins Lloyds from HSBC UK, where she is currently head of South Region and Large Loans Distribution. During her time there, she has built and led the development and delivery of a large loans broker proposition, and its product and service offering across the UK.

Having started her career as a mortgage adviser with Hambro Countrywide, Fenner is CeMAP qualified and brings with her over 20 years of experience working with intermediaries, including roles with Santander and Coventry Building Society.

She will replace Ian Wilson, who announced his retirement earlier this year.

In a related development, HSBC UK has also outlined that Tracie Burton will be taking on Fenner’s responsibility for London and its large loans team in the interim.

Burton is a senior corporate account manager in its intermediary mortgages team and has been with the bank since April 2020. She has over 23 years of experience working with the intermediated financial services sector, previously working in different roles at RBS, NatWest, and Nationwide.

“We’re very blessed to have a deep pool of talent to draw upon to cover the vacancy created by Amanda’s departure and I’m delighted that Tracie Burton will step into the role with immediate effect in conjunction with her existing duties as a corporate account manager while we seek a permanent solution,” Chris Pearson, HSBC’s head of intermediary mortgages, said.

“Amanda Fenner has been instrumental to our growth from a new-to-market lender in the broker sector, through to the major player we are today,” Pearson added. “She has helped create a strong reputation, in particular, with our major London partners and helped grow and develop an exceptional team of BDMs under her leadership.  She leaves with our very best wishes for the future.”
