LIME to ‘help access overseas market’

LIME has formed partnerships with a number of experts in the international field, including a direct service and mortgage introductions as well as a specialist property agent.

The direct service is offered through Own Overseas, which is backed by the Lloyds TSB Group. Its aim is to help intermediaries who have clients wishing to buy property in Spain with a Spanish mortgage through Scottish Widows. The service also includes an introduction to an English speaking Spanish law firm and full support in ongoing client requirements, such as opening a Spanish bank account.

Clients can also be introduced to overseas specialists, Belvins Franks Mortgage Services and Conti Financial Services, who both handle the whole transaction and pay a percentage of the procuration fee.

For brokers wishing to use a specialist property estate agent, the Premier International Group has a network of introducers and property specialists available. It assesses each client’s needs and directs them to the most appropriate property firm.

Simon Conn, managing director for Conti Financial Services, said the service meant intermediaries would no longer have to turn away clients who are interested in buying abroad. He said: “The overseas market is very big and we get around a 100 enquiries a day about it. This service means that brokers won’t have to say no to their clients if they come to them about buying property overseas. Brokers now have an outlet to go to. So many people rush into buying property abroad and don’t do all the right checks, so this will help brokers get their clients the right information.”
