L&G upgrades critical illness plan

The insurer expects to pay additional claims for deafness after it lowered its requirement from 95 decibels in the better ear to 70 decibels.

And for heart attacks it followed other insurers by removing the requirement for a specified level of raised enzymes or troponins.

It has also lowered its requirement for strokes from ‘persisting clinical symptoms’ to ‘persisting clinical symptoms lasting at least 24 hours’, while for multiple sclerosis the wording ‘current symptoms’ has been altered to ‘where there have been symptoms’.

Changes were also made to cancer, blindness and carcinoma in situ of the breast.
