Lemon Sqeezy says that mortgage brokers are still in the dark over new rules

Stuart Wilson, co-director of Lemon Squeezy says: "Despite all of the build-up and fanfare, mortgage regulation has still left a lot of brokers in the dark, particularly when it comes to understanding the new rules regarding financial promotions. We attended the recent Mortgage Business Expo in London and as we spoke to more and more attendees we were surprised by the level of misunderstanding that still exists around issues such as risk warnings".

Lemon Squeezy has introduced a free financial promotions review service, aimed at helping brokers identify potential problems with their marketing literature, before money is wasted on designing and printing items that could fall foul of the new regulations. Stuart says of the service: "We can help brokers on a number of levels, especially when it comes to identifying the risk warnings that their promotion needs to carry based on its particular content. Of course, ultimate responsibility for compliance rests with the broker or their host company, but we can offer guidance based on our knowledge of MCOB and our marketing expertise in the field of mortgages".
