Leeds donates cash to Age Concern and Help the Aged

This donation has two components to it. The first part of it is £5,694.09, which is the annual payment from the Society's Your Interest in Theirs scheme. This works by members agreeing to forego up to 99p of their interest each year. This money is then split equally between the Society's four partner charities. In addition to Age Concern and Help the Aged these are Save the Children, Marie Curie Cancer Care and the Leeds Building Society Charitable Foundation.

The second part of the donation is £2,221.84, which is the Charitable Incentive Donation from the Society's Annual General Meeting. Leeds Building Society donated 10p for every postal vote received and 20p for every internet vote. Members selected which partner charity they wanted to receive the donation from their vote.

Alison Miller, senior account executive for corporate partnerships at the Charity said, "We are delighted to accept this £7,915 donation from Leeds Building Society. The generosity of our supporters is vital to our survival because donations and gifts are one of the single greatest sources of income for us."

Gary Brook, Leeds Building Society P.R. Manager said, "This donation will go towards supporting some of the most disadvantaged people in the community. It's a great charity to support and a big thank you goes to our members for agreeing to donate through both the Your interest in theirs and AGM Charitable Incentive schemes."
