Laker denies network difficulties

Sources had informed Mortgage Introducer that Mortgage Intelligence was experiencing problems and that Laker was set to leave the network.

One source said: “Sally is definitely under pressure. There was an expectation, especially from owner Close Brothers, that Intelligence’s three regulatory propositions would have attracted many more firms. This hasn’t happened.”

This is the latest attack on a network’s standing – with Richard Griffiths, managing director of Network Data, last month coming out to defend his firm against accusations that it was not paying proc fees to its appointed representatives (ARs) on time.

Laker said: “Like everyone else, we experienced the affects of a sluggish housing market and levels were down. But we’re positive about the future. The network is doing well and our ARs are producing good volumes of business.

“I don’t know where these rumours have come from but they are not true. I have no plans to leave Mortgage Intelligence.”

“We are also getting enquir-ies from ARs of other networks who want to switch allegiance because they are not getting the proper support and want more for their money,” Laker added.
