Just Mortgages names Orion managing director

Broker firm Just Mortgages has appointed John Doughty (pictured) to the position of managing director for the employed Orion chapter.

Doughty, who was a longstanding financial services director at the brokerage, brings with him almost two decades of experience across estate agency, mortgages, and financial services, including more than 13 years with Spicerhaart and Just Mortgages. He joined the team in 2008 as a mortgage consultant and has, since then, served as a divisional sales manager and director for Wales and the west of England before joining the new build division.

In his new role, Doughty will work closely with more than 90 members of staff – including almost 60 brokers in the chapter, while also liaising with the Spicerhaart estate agency chains. In addition to helping brokers with their day-to-day activities, he will also support them in accessing high-level training and mentoring, as well as exploring progression opportunities.

Doughty succeeds Tommy Taylor in the role, who stays with the Spicerhaart family as estate agency managing director. He will continue to work closely with both Taylor and fellow chapter managing director Duncan Jones.

“It gives me great pleasure to name John Doughty as our new chapter managing director,” stated John Phillips, national operations director at Just Mortgages. “He has been a part of the team for more than 13 years and is a great example of the opportunities available at Just Mortgages.

“His skills and experience will be a real asset as our employed division and the wider business continues to reach new heights.”

Speaking on his appointment, Doughty said he was thrilled to be taking the next step in his career with Just Mortgages and taking on a more strategic role in the employed division.

“Having stood in their shoes, the role provides an exciting opportunity to utilise my experience and expertise to help our talented brokers develop and succeed,” he added. “It’s also a great chance to return to my roots and work closely with the estate agency side of the business.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to stay involved with the new build division and to continue driving forward that side of the business. I’m incredibly proud of what we have achieved in such a short space of time and look forward to seeing the what the future holds as the team expands.”

In addition to its employed division, Just Mortgages has almost 500 brokers working on a self-employed basis. In total, Just Mortgages has more than 650 brokers across the country.
