Introducer Internet celebrates third birthday with record-breaking week

The figures represent 90% by both volume and value of Abbey’s intermediary mortgage business and comes on the back of the speed enhancements introduced to the site at the beginning of September.

Since it was launched in October 2000, the site has grown to become the single largest channel for mortgage applications within Abbey. With more than 14,000 users registered to use the site it regularly accounts for more than 80% of all intermediary mortgage business by volume and value and around half of all Abbey mortgages sold.

According to Ambrose McGinn, Director at Abbey for Intermediaries, the functionality and ease of use, backed by quality service are just some of the reasons it has been so successful. Introducer Internet offers:

- a fully credit-checked agreement in principle in 60 seconds;

- real-time mortgage case tracking; and

- a general insurance quotation facility.

The clear advantage to intermediaries in using the on-line facility is that it frees them up to spend more time advising clients and less filling in forms.

He said: “When we launched Introducer Internet three years ago it was a radical departure for us and for the market, but we believed it was the right way to go. Abbey has backed that judgement and has invested in the system since its launch to keep ahead of the pack. Most recently we improved the technology to make it operate faster and, as these results show, it has paid off for us and for the intermediaries using it.”
