As I write this, the election is still looming and we are not quite sure who will be running the country for the next five years.

I have been watching the progress of the campaigns with interest and despite some extremely high-quality party election broadcasts, I am not totally convinced that any one of the smiley-faced politicians has my best interests at heart.

Without wanting to bang on about the election, my point is that what I really want and what I think the industry really needs is a government that will make our lives easier.

We need effective systems built on common sense and industry experience, not time-wasting bureaucracy that serves only to threaten the future of forests worldwide.

We can be sure that in an uncertain market we will need to continue to diversify our product range and insurance is one of the natural choices.

However, getting your staff trained on a new product range does take time and a certificate level of qualification may not be appropriate for all staff.

The Institute of Financial Services (ifs) has developed a Competence Development Tool CD-ROM to complement its Certificate in Regulated General Insurance (CeRGIĀ®).

The CD-ROM is interactive and breaks down the syllabus into manageable chunks by product area; ideal for streamlining your study to focus on the relevant topics.

The Competence Development Tool also contains sample exam papers which can be reconfigured to produce different exams each time, so that more experienced staff can test their knowledge and maintain their competence at the same time.
