HMLR extends notice and search periods

Land Registry reveals arrangements in light of the Queen's funeral

HMLR extends notice and search periods

HM Land Registry (HMLR) has announced that all notice periods and official search priority periods which began before, but which expire after, September 19, 2022, will be automatically extended by one working day and that any affected cancellation dates will also be extended.

The extensions were given as Monday, September 19, was declared a bank holiday for the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

HMLR said notices and search certificates issued before the said date that include a different expiry date will not reflect the automatic extension.

“For example, a notice issued on September 12 that states that it expires on October 3 will actually not expire until October 4,” the HMLR advisory stated. “You may wish to amend your records to avoid any confusion.”

HMLR’s business e-services, search for land and property information, and the GOV.UK website will be available, but customer support centre and technical support teams will not be reachable on the bank holiday. Normal service will resume at 8am on the following day.
