HIP 'dry run' to take place in 2006

The objectives of a dry run will be to track a representative sample of transactions, by buyers and sellers and others involved in the process, from the point of enquiry through to completion. Estate agents and others will be invited to participate fully in the exercise and we will continue to work with stakeholders to develop the detail of the dry run over the summer and further details will be available in the autumn.

The introduction of HIPs - aimed at transforming home-buying and selling - has received a boost with plans announced by Housing Minister Yvette Cooper on 25 July 2005, showing progress following discussions between Government and the industry about how the scheme could operate. Yvette Cooper said, "The programmes development, including the proposals for the Home Condition Report and the dry run, is in good shape."

Habitus CEO Brendan Doyle says, "We very much welcome this announcement and hope that it will provide significant impetus for the industry to prepare for its implementation. We offer our full support to the Govermment and the industry to make its implementation a success.

"We believe that in the current market conditions Home Information Packs can help sell properties now and reduce completion times. "

So we believe that the 'Dry Run' actually starts now and Independent Estate Agents and Solicitors need to act now as there is little room for delay to avoid losing out to the large corporate. As one of the largest independent network of chartered surveyors, Habiuts is making its HIPs software solution available to other forward thinking independent firms of property property professionals."
