Hinckley & Rugby BS names new CCO

Hinckley & Rugby Building Society has appointed Danny Cranie (pictured) as its new chief customer officer, a role created to enhance member services and develop the mutual’s digital initiatives.

Cranie, who has 34 years of experience in banks and building societies, will be tasked with bolstering the Hinckley & Rugby’s existing channels and spearheading a new digital strategy aimed at improving member engagement.

Previously, Cranie spent over three decades at Lloyds Banking Group and recently held a position at Virgin Money. Throughout a career which began at Halifax Building Society, he has occupied various leadership roles, including area director and head of development. He also played a significant part in managing the merger between Bank of Scotland and Lloyds.

Cranie holds a BA degree in Accountancy and Business Law and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Bankers.

“I am delighted to welcome Danny to Hinckley & Rugby,” said Barry Carter, who became chief executive of Hinckley & Rugby Building Society early this year. “His experience, knowledge, and passion for providing outstanding member service are second to none.

“As part of my executive team, he will be a key person to help drive our member-centric growth agenda. He joins us at an exciting moment in our history for both members and colleagues.”

Commenting on his appointment, Cranie expressed enthusiasm about implementing the society’s five-year business plan and enhancing its customer-focused approach.

“It’s an exciting time to join as we get set to launch our digital proposition, which will widen our reach to attract new members to the society,” he said. “I’m looking forward to using my business transformation experience to help us achieve further operational efficiencies and deliver outstanding customer experiences and outcomes.”
