GI business rises by 27 per cent in 2003 at L&G

Net written premiums grew to £387m in 2003, compared to £304m in 2002. This business growth was achieved through a range of business improvements and key new partnerships.

Legal & General Insurance Managing Director Ian Viney commented, “Legal & General Insurance has had an outstanding year, and we are delighted to report significant growth of our personal lines general insurance. In 2003 we welcomed several new and important partners, including Barclays general insurance, the Chelsea Building Society, the Lambeth Building Society, Birmingham Midshires and Bank of Ireland Mortgages. What has been particularly gratifying is that despite this rapid increase in business and the introduction of new systems and processes, our customer satisfaction surveys are showing that our customers continue to praise the quality of service they receive. This combination of positive customer experience, efficient business processing and attractive, profitable products positions us well to continue to achieve further growth in 2004.”
