Financial firms continue talent drive with strategic hires

Furness Building Society has appointed Simon Broadley (pictured left) as its new chief executive officer, marking a leadership transition at the 160-year-old mutual.
Broadley, previously chief commercial officer, brings over 25 years of experience in financial services, including senior roles at Yorkshire Building Society and Tenet & You. He succeeds Chris Harrison, who is retiring after more than eight years at the helm.
“I’m very proud to take the position of CEO at Furness Building Society, having been part of the leadership team for nearly three years,” Broadley said.
Redwood Bank also announced a key leadership change, promoting Stuart Davidson (pictured right) to chief commercial officer.
Davidson joined the specialist business bank in 2018 and has played a central role in shaping its lending and savings strategies. With over 35 years in financial services, including two decades at Lloyds Banking Group and roles at several challenger banks, he steps into the role amid market challenges for professional landlords and business savers.
“The past few years have been marked by changes in regulation, economic instability and frequent base rate changes,” Davidson said. “These factors have made planning more difficult across the sector, particularly for business banks. But they’ve also reinforced the importance of agility, strong partnerships and staying close to the needs of our brokers and customers.”
In other sector moves, Just Group has named Sean Osborne as its incoming director of retail distribution. Osborne joins from Charles Stanley and will lead distribution strategy in the UK intermediated market.
Meanwhile, 365 Finance appointed Jagriti Singh as head of credit, bringing extensive experience from Virgin Money and McKinsey & Company.
Mirfield-based Echo Finance has brought in Neil Mulhearn as adviser development manager, supporting its plans to double broker headcount by the end of the year.
Cambridge & Counties Bank expanded its North West presence with the additions of Gordon Spotten and Paula McLaughlin, joining as senior business development manager and relationship manager respectively.
Masthaven Finance also grew its business development team, hiring Tony Grillo (senior business development manager) and Gary Melville (internal business development manager) to boost intermediary support.
