FSA helps industry on Basic Advice

Dan Waters, FSA Director Retail Policy, said: "The Basic Advice regime is still new and we know from talking to firms that not everyone has yet got to grips with how it works and how they can use it to help customers who may not need full advice. I hope these FAQs will clarify the points that most commonly cause concern and that firms will them helpful for the Basic Advice regime which gives them flexibility and opportunity to provide a streamlined advice process for stakeholder products."

The FAQs can be found on the FSA Website at: http://tncintr07:2005/pages/Library/Other_publications/Miscellaneous/2005/stakeholder_faqs.shtml

Firms have been able to sell stakeholder products under the new regime since April 2005.
