Freedom Finance to provide network support

Freedom Finance has recruited Stephen Atkins as Managing Director of its new network service. Stephen was previously Compliance Director for Mortgage Next and currently sits on the FSA Small Business Practioners Panel. He is also a member of the Board of the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries and, prior to joining Mortgage Next, was head of ScotLife Home Loans.

Stephen joins a growing senior management team at Freedom Finance, which includes Colin Snowdon, Managing Director - Mortgages and Intermediary Business. Colin is responsible for developing and implementing Freedom Group’s overall mortgage strategy including launching the Group’s own lending business in the near future. Stephen will report to Colin Snowdon.

Group Managing Director, Rupert Webb, said: “We’re delighted to have recruited such a well respected industry heavyweight as Stephen, who has a detailed technical understanding of what’s involved in developing a network proposition.”

The establishment of a network service is the latest development in the expansion plans of the Freedom Finance Group. During January 2003 Freedom announced its intention to become a mortgage lender in the UK. The Group already has a broking business in Spain and in November announced the acquisition of Bolane Services, the largest loan broking company in Sweden. Freedom Finance’s intention is to become a pan-European financial services group. Further continental developments are planned in 2004.

Freedom will be making further announcements about the development of its network proposition in the near future.
