FISA appoints chairman

He was unanimously elected at a recent FISA board meeting, following the retirement of Colin Pryor, who has served the Association over the last five years.

Barwick was on the board at the inception of FISA in the late 80s and has been in the UK finance industry for over 40 years, the last 12 being with the Swift Group, where he is managing director.

Barwick said: "I feel privileged to be voted to this position at one of the finance industry’s most effective and influential trade associations. Over the past few years, the secured loan industry has gone through dramatic structural changes. To be elected to this role, just as the FISA board starts an extensive review of the needs of its members, is a great challenge.

"FISA was initiated by the Corporation of Finance Brokers (CFB) and founded to promote a fair, level playing field for brokers. All the signs are that this need continues and that there is a will among members’ representatives to reflect the changes that have taken place in the industry."
