First HIP completed

The property was officially placed on the market yesterday in Llandaff in Wales by Mr. Hefin Owen, through John Williams Estate Agents. The HIP, which included an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), was then ordered by the agent through 7Side Ltd, an established search and HIP provider in the area, and turned around in just two hours – making record time.

Victor Watson, property services director of 7Side Ltd, said: “We have put two years of planning into achieving a fast and efficient HIP providing service and are delighted to be recognised as the first AHIPP member to deliver a completed pack.

“Having previously set ourselves the challenge to be the first HIP provider in Wales we already had contingency plans in place to receive HIP orders from 00.01hrs on 1 August.”

Owen, who received his completed pack at 5:16pm yesterday, for his seven bedroom, 1930’s detached home, said: “We instructed John Williams of John Williams Estate Agent, Llandaff, to market our home. John advised us that the property would be available to market by 1 August and would need a HIP.

“Having gone through the process now, I am very pleased. 7Side were very helpful and I found the whole exercise a very positive one. I recommend to other sellers that they have nothing to worry about with HIP’s.”

Paul Broadhead, deputy director-general of AHIPP, concluded: “Yesterday was a momentous occasion for the property industry. The fact that 7Side Ltd was able to turn a pack around so quickly is evidence that those companies who have invested in making the packs a success are able to provide HIPs in a very quick and seamless manner – for the benefit of the consumer and the industry.

“I congratulate 7Side Ltd on being our first member to produce a live HIP, turning it around in less than a day. HIPs are set to improve the house buying and selling process, allowing buyers to make more informed decisions and allowing a faster and more transparent process. It is now vital that the benefits of HIPs are extended, first to properties with three bedrooms and then the rest of the market, as soon as possible.”
