Experian joins PISCES

Phil Cotter, managing director of Experian’s Information Solutions division, said: “Multiple systems are in use throughout the property industry – all needing to be linked. Without a common language, this is near to impossible, so the work that PISCES is doing is critical to deliver the efficient transfer of data between systems. By joining PISCES, Experian is bringing its expertise to the table to help PISCES deliver this efficient transfer and common language.

“On a daily basis, Experian processes vast amounts of information from multiple clients and, as such, we are accustomed to seeing commercial and residential names and addresses held in countless different formats using countless different protocols. Not only are our systems geared up to make sense of this multiplicity of common information, we have developed a unique referencing system at the household, personal, commercial and business location level. It is this experience and application that we are bringing to the table to enable a common format for addresses to be developed and adopted across the property industry as well as the larger commercial arena.”

Roger de Boehmler, director-general of PISCES, commented: “This should send a clear message to any organisation that uses property related data that there is now a real momentum for beneficial change. Indeed, it goes wider than the property market, because correct and consistent addressing is vital to all business. By joining our membership, Experian will play a key role in helping us to deliver a common computer language across the property market, to drive forward an industry Standard to significantly ease the huge costs associated with data transfer.

“Experian will also be a very important contributor to our new Addressing Workgroup. This Workgroup will include both public and private sector organisations and, by the middle of next year, will provide a single XML Standard for use in any software that holds property addresses. By improving address data quality and automating its transfer between systems, this Standard will generate our biggest savings yet for almost every business organisation.”
