His key focus at the income protection specialist will be on extending current distribution, ensuring regulatory compliance and improving member communications.

The mutual currently specialises in income protection for healthcare professionals, which Perry believes offers “exciting opportunities” for growth in this market.

PG’s income protection plan differs from many others in the market as it is designed to build up a fund on policyholders’ behalf which pays out on termination of the plan, as well as offering traditional benefits.

“In my view, income protection is must-have insurance for many of those in PG’s core membership market of health professionals, and for many others,” Perry said.

“I’m relishing the opportunity to build on the strong platform that PG currently has, and to make sure that its excellent product leads the way in income protection in the years ahead.”

Perry was sales and marketing director of intermediary lender Amber Home Loans between 2000 and 2008 and became sales and marketing director of third party-servicer HML in April 2008.

He has been in financial services for 25 years and has a strong history working with intermediaries.

PG has net assets of over £32m.
