EXCLUSIVE: Paul Brett back in the game

Thought to have been brought in as the early foundations are being laid for the launch of the southern-based home loans provider it is believed Brett has been hired as director of business development.

Terry Pritchard, head of structured products at Channel Equity Finance and board director of London Rebuilding Society, said: “If this is true then this is fantastic news; both for the market and for Paul. I’ve known Paul for 20 years and consider him to be one of the best in the industry. He has a wealth of market knowledge and his appointment would be good for any lender – especially one looking to gain fast market traction.”

Brett, who is also a qualified sous-chef, has so far cooked up a glittering career in the mortgage and finance industry since he started as branch supervisor at the London “Strand” branch of Yorkshire Building Society in 1994.

He went on to become national sales manager at sub-prime lender SPML for two and a half years before becoming sales and marketing director for FastCom Mortgage as the Millennium turned.

In 2004 he founded the Freehold Packager Association, comprising of 21 packaging companies with a combined distribution of £1.6bn.

After the market crashed he moved to short-term lender borro as business development director, working in tandem with bridging loan lenders, secured loan providers, private banks, wealth managers and HNW & UHNW specialists.

Brett’s last job was director of sales at Masthaven Secured Loans, a position he left at the beginning of the year.

Brett was unavailable to comment but on his LinkedIn profile he says: “I created, developed and ran the intermediary division of the business [borro]. Working with financial distributors, brokers, wealth managers, accountants, lawyers and private banks to offer a unique lending proposition.

“I am an experienced sales and marketing director/business developer and have worked in national business development roles for over fifteen years devising sales strategies for several multi million pound turnover private companies.
