em- golf day raises £17,000 for charities

Hosted last summer at the Buckinghamshire Golf Club, the funds raised were split between the em-foundation nominated charities Treloar School, Cancer Research UK and the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

The event saw industry associates, an MI hack and celebrity friends including Sky Sports presenters Jeff Stelling and Nigel Spackman battle it out on the parkland golf course.

Guy Garrard, director of business development at em-, was joined by Jeff Stelling and Nigel Spackman to present the cheque for £5,710 to head boy Matthew Gunning and head girl Holley Squires at The Treloar School in Hampshire.

Spackman said: “Participating in the em-invitational golf day was great fun and I was delighted when em- asked me to support the presentation ceremony at Treloar’s. The School is a fantastic place and had provided me and my family with a huge amount of help and support over the years. To give something back is so rewarding.”

Garrard also presented cheques for £5,710 to Peter Whalley from Cancer Research UK and Sally Bushen of the Motor Neurone Disease Association. He said: “Not only did we take pleasure in a round of golf but we were also able to raise much-needed funds for our charities. I took great enjoyment in presenting the cheques, and knowing our efforts do make a difference makes us all at em- very proud. We’re looking forward to this year’s golf day planned for 27 June at the Buckinghamshire Club.”
