For which awards can you nominate?
A broad spectrum of awards will cover every facet of this remarkable profession – from BDM of the Year to Rising Star of the Year (Broker), Business Leader of the Year (Lender) and Woman of Distinction. Sought after titles such as Broker of the Year across various regions, Best Overall Broker in Scotland, as well as Specialist Lender, Later Life lender and Distributor of the Year, are among the glittering prizes - along with many more accolades.
The event will also take time to recognise the extraordinary good work that the sector does to help others within Scotland, with a very special award for Excellence in Philanthropy & Community Service. You can nominate yourself, a colleague, a valued industry contact or, perhaps, one of your talented and high achieving employees.
Isha Thomson (pictured left), Skipton Building Society’s business development manager – Scotland, believes it’s important that the country has its own industry celebration.
“Whilst the Scottish market has its own intricacies to navigate, we play a vital part in the overall UK housing market,” Thomson said. “Scotland is an attractive place for many people to live and work, driving the need for expert advice within the mortgage sector. There are a lot of talented individuals within our sector who are greatly contributing to delivery of a brilliant client experience and overall growth of the mortgage market in Scotland. It is really important that we recognise the efforts and impact of this.”
Thomson, who was at the event herself last year, urged anyone thinking of nominating themselves or others for an award, to get involved.
“The Scottish Mortgage Awards are a fantastic opportunity for us to recognise those who have made a significant impact within the sector,” she commented. “It is a chance to celebrate those whose outstanding contributions over the last twelve months have helped shape and drive forward the Scottish mortgage market. I would really encourage anyone thinking of making a nomination to do so.”
Broker Helen MacKenzie (pictured centre), from MacKenzie Mortgages, also fully supports the event – she’s won three times!
“I would fully encourage anyone to take part in this extremely professional and well organised awards event,” she said. “Since winning, I have had one of my busiest years. It's an excellent opportunity to connect with other fantastic people in the industry and gain from the benefits that it will bring to your business.”
James Rice (pictured right), managing director of The Mortgage Finance Store, remembers a memorable moment from the 2024 ceremony.
“I was privileged last year to witness a young lady barely a year into the industry pick up the young achiever award,” he said. “The impact on both her, and her colleagues’ collective pride that was generated as a result, are hard to put into words. I would like to wish every award nominee this year the best of luck and hope those attending in a supporting role share in the celebration of our Scottish success.”
