Culture award for Liverpool sends prices rocketing

In the nine months following the title nomination prices in the city have increased by 21.2 per cent, compared with 12.9 per cent in the rest of the North West.

Tim Crawford, group economist at Halifax, said: “The Capital of Culture status is clearly having a ‘halo’ effect on the regeneration of Liverpool.”

Commenting on the report’s findings Eddie Goldsmith, partner in Liverpool-based law firm Goldsmith Williams, said: “As a born and bred Scouser I am pleased that people are finally realising what a great place this is to live and work in. It’s something we in Liverpool have known for years.”
