Countrywide appoints Guy Batchelor as Corporate Business Director

Guy joins Countrywide on 20 October and brings more than 25 years experience in the banking and financial services market, including his most recent post at Lehman Brothers, where he was a Senior Vice President in the Mortgage Capital Division.

Board-level roles at Lehman and Platform have enabled Guy to build on his sales and marketing expertise, leading to a number of prestigious industry awards. As a key figure in the lending market, Guy has also chaired the Intermediary Mortgage Lenders Association (2006 and 2007) and was a Member of Executive Committee of the Council of Mortgage Lenders between 2003 and 2008.

Guy’s new role at Countrywide will include responsibility for corporate business development across the Group, including Countrywide’s estate agency, lettings, surveying, mortgage, conveyancing and asset management divisions.

The appointment coincides with Countrywide’s decision to bring together their corporate development activities across the Group in to one team, which is focussed on growing existing and developing new customer relationships.

Confirming the news, Grenville Turner, Countrywide Group CEO said: “I’m delighted to welcome Guy to Countrywide as we embark upon an exciting period of growth built around mutually beneficial and enduring business partnerships.

Guy added: “Having had an 18 year relationship as a customer of the Group, I am delighted to be joining Countrywide in this role and look forward to working with my new colleagues to ensure we continue to exceed our customers' expectations.

“Bringing together the corporate development activities under one roof will give Countrywides' current and future customers tremendous benefits.”

The main focus of this key role will be to lead the new Corporate Business Team and implement a new corporate business development strategy and customer relationship model to further enhance Countrywide’s strong links with the UK’s top mortgage lenders, packagers and commercial partners.

Guy will initially work alongside and then succeed John Williams, who has been with Countrywide for more than 18 years, during which time he has been instrumental in growing Countrywide’s mortgage and insurance service offering to become one of the largest mortgage brokers in the UK.
