Conveyancing Alliance calls for price transparency

Conveyancing Alliance believes a number of firms are not outlining the true cost of their services leaving clients in the dark about the actual amount they will end up paying. This can mean that a ‘headline-grabbing’ price is used to draw customers in to an agreement however additional costs are left hidden in the small print only revealed when the final bill is handed over. Common hidden charges include fees for additional applicants, fees for dealing with the mortgage lender and fees for telegraphic transfers.

Conveyancing Alliance has a unique quotation engine giving full price transparency at point of sale allowing introducers to provide their clients with a quotation for the service showing the actual total they will pay including all known extras. This offering has been created in full agreement with Conveyancing Alliance’s panel of solicitors.

Harpal Singh, Managing Director of Conveyancing Alliance Ltd, commented: “We are still seeing advisers and their clients drawn into agreements with the so-called ‘bucket shop’ conveyancers through ‘headline grabbing’ pricing, only for the price to rocket when the final bill is handed over. This is at best confusing and at worst misleading. We are sure it puts many advisers off recommending solicitors altogether.

“We have gone to great lengths to have the real price available on the quotation; our solicitor firms agreed that the customer should know exactly what they are going to pay from the outset. Some of our competitors are not being up-front about their charging structures and are therefore mis-leading the adviser and the customer. With purchase transactions on the rise it is vitally important brokers are aware of the true costs of conveyancing and only through choosing a transparent pricing structure can they truly be offering best advice to their clients.”
