Claire Gates leaves borro for MasterCard

Prior to her stint at borro she had led the retailer and partnership section GE Capital in Central and Eastern Europe and held the position of managing director at Virgin Money, where she established Virgin Money Canada.

A spokesman for Borro said: “Claire Gates left Borro in August 2014 to take on a new role, and we wish her very well with her next challenge.”

Gates spent over three years with borro and took up her new role as group head, key issuers, at MasterCard this month.

Gates was unavailable for comment but on networking site LinkedIn she writes that she has over 10 years experience in the financial services sector with major blue chip companies and has “strong external focus with true global experience and success in restructuring and turnarounds as well as launching new ventures, developing business propositions in new markets, launching new products into both mature and emerging markets as well as creating equity based partnerships across various geographical areas.”

And that she can: “Successfully manage large, diverse teams both within own organisation as well as partner and client organizations.”

Gates also has specialties in restructuring and turnarounds; equity and non equity based partnerships; joint ventures; new product launches and new market entries.
