CA looks to identify home-buying obstacles

Conveyancers and estate agents across the UK are invited to answer two short surveys designed to bottom out the issues currently preventing home-buying transactions from running both quickly and smoothly.

Amongst other questions, respondents are asked to rank what aspects of the home-buying process they believe create issues with their transactions and what they would change to prevent these from happening again.

Eddie Goldsmith, chairman of the Conveyancing Association, said: “Before Christmas the CA took an initial step towards promoting effective working practices between conveyancers and estate agent, with the ultimate view of improving the home mover experience for clients across the board.

“However, there is still much to be done in this area and it will take the whole industry to make a difference; it is not something which any one person or organisation can solve on their own.

“We believe that by gathering the relevant data, we will be able to identify where both conveyancers and estate agents feel they are being held up during a transaction.

“A well-defined problem is halfway to being solved: once we have collated this information we will ask the whole industry to join with us to tackle the issues being experienced and hence make the home-buying process a much more positive one for all involved, not least out clients.”

Both surveys, one for conveyancers and one for estate agents, are live online from today.
