Bupa Individual Protection reduces critical illness rates

The new rates mean that a 34-year-old male non-smoker, on a level policy with £250,000 sum assured over 25 years, with no exclusions, will pay £88.40 per month instead of £91.19 (3.1% reduction). A 29-year-old female non-smoker with £100,000 sum assured over 35 years on a mortgage policy, will pay £29.62 instead of £30.46 (2.8% reduction).

Commenting on the reductions, Steve Casey, Bupa Individual Protection's product and marketing manager, said: "We are committed to supporting our intermediary partners and ensuring that our critical illness cover remains an affordable five-star option, especially given these unpredictable economic times when people need to protect themselves now more than ever against the financial impact of ill health."

Bupa's range of critical illness and income protection products have recently achieved five star ratings following a recent re-accreditation from Defaqto, a leading independent research company which rates products across the whole market.
