Bristol & West Mortgages go direct

The intermediary brand offers a diverse range of mortgages, including standard, buy to let, offset and first start; a first-time buyer mortgage.

The move is the result of Bank of Ireland's (BOI) decision to transfer the Bristol & West branch network and savings and investments business to Britannia in September of this year. An opportunity emerged to focus on a consumer direct proposition under Bank of Ireland Personal Lending's four main brands:

*Bristol & West Mortgages

*Bank of Ireland Mortgages

*Giraffe, and

*alburaq (Islamic home finance)

Consumer lending, a new business stream, now focuses on customer acquisition for these brands.

Alison Pallett, the newly appointed head of consumer lending, is really excited about the opportunities within the consumer market. She feels the business will benefit immensely from their existing specialism in mortgages and enable consumer lending to provide mortgages that meet a range of customer requirements through a multi-channel approach. Pallett said: "This is a tremendous opportunity to develop a business that aims to mirror the success and market share we already experience under our highly successful mortgage intermediary businesses."
