BRE select xit2

The online Home Condition Report (RICS HCR writer) developed by xit2 will form a part of BRE’s comprehensive training and assessment programme leading to the ABBE Diploma in Home Inspection.

From January 2007, all houses placed on the market for sale will require a Home Condition Report as a part of the Home Information Pack. The pack, which includes the report, will also include all relevant documentation and searches needed to sell the house.

BRE is supporting the development of Home Condition Reports as part of the Home Information Pack by offering a comprehensive assessment and training service for potential home inspectors leading to the ABBE Diploma in Home Inspection. This comprises induction training, assessment, specialist training courses using on-site training houses for practice inspections and online help to be in place to support the inspector in the field. All provided by a company with over 80 years experience in the housing market.

The xit2 technology being used has been developed in partnership with the RICS and provides trainee home inspectors the opportunity to gain practice and accreditation using an ‘as-live’ Home Condition Report.

Chris Broadbent director, BRE properties said:

“The industry is estimated to need 8000 inspectors to inspect and report on the 1 million plus housing transactions undertaken each year. This provides exciting opportunities for building professionals of all types to train and qualify as home inspectors. BRE has developed an intensive assessment and training process which crucially includes, thanks to xit2 and BRE training houses, the hands on preparation of Home Condition Reports.

"xit2 has delivered a full HCR including energy rating questions and intelligent formatting, which will form an integral part of the training program. Other firms are working on this technology but xit2 has already tested and delivered a working solution which provides ourselves and our candidates with a huge level of confidence,”

Paul Duckworth, chief executive, xit2 Group - commented: “It’s full steam ahead for HIPs and there is increased pressure on getting home inspectors trained and ready to go. We are delighted to support BRE who, with over 80years experience in the housing market are ideally placed to deliver training for Home Inspectors and play a huge part in ensuring the a successful introduction of HIPs.”
