This follows structural changes announced by AXA on 29 November 2006.

The managing director of the AXA Protection Business Graham Harvey has appointed Jamie McIver to the role of director of sales, Iain Mallon as the head of marketing and Tim Hopkinson has been appointed to the role of head of development. The appointment of a head of operations will be announced in due course.

Harvey said: “This is an exciting time for the AXA Protection Business as we take some major steps toward growing the business and increasing our market share. I am very confident that my new management team will grasp the opportunities we now have and recognise how critical meeting our business goals will be in order to help AXA Life to realise its wider ambitions.”

Jamie joined AXA in December 2006 as director of protection sales within the newly formed Protection Strategic Business Unit following 15 years with Friends Provident, during which time he was instrumental in growing First Call, the direct sales force and later as director of sales and development. Jamie has been in the Life Insurance industry since 1975 spending 17 years with Pioneer Mutual/Swiss Life UK in various roles.

Iain Mallon joined AXA in 1999 as head of protection and was influential in the development of the AXA Protection Account. Iain was involved specifically in developing electronic quotes, applications and underwriting solutions.

In his new role at AXA, Iain is responsible for developing the marketing strategy of the Protection business which launched 3 years ago.

Tim Hopkinson joined AXA in 1986 directly from University, spending the first 12 years in sales in Birmingham before moving to Bristol to work in marketing. Subsequently he has worked as a business architect and most recently business advisor to the chief executive officer.
