Aviva amends critical illness plan

Reinsurers suggest that the wording will be 10% more beneficial, as many claims currently rejected will be paid.

Aviva joins Ageas, HSBC, LV= and Scottish Provident in using this beneficial claim wording, although it does not require typical clinical symptoms such as chest pain unlike Scottish Provident.

Heart attack is responsible for around 12% of claims paid, while 100,000 people suffer from heart attacks each year, with 55% being first-time heart attacks.
