Audley Group appoints new financial director

Audley Group, a specialist retirement housing provider, has announced the appointment of Shaun Swanepoel (pictured) as its new group financial director.

Swanepoel joins Audley from his previous role as director of finance and accounting at MSC Cruise Management. Bringing with him over 15 years of financial industry experience, he will work closely with chief financial officer Gary Burton to help drive Audley Group’s growth plans and strategic financial direction.

“Shaun is an excellent hire for Audley Group and we’re very pleased to welcome him to the team,” Burton remarked. “Having led the financial division of one of the world’s largest cruise firms, his breadth of experience will be invaluable as we move forward with both our Audley and Mayfield propositions.”

Commenting on his appointment, Swanepoel said he was thrilled to be joining Audley at a strategically important moment in its growth aspirations.

“The Audley and Mayfield offerings are answering a growing need in the market and are exactly what is required if we are to meet the rising demands of our ageing population,” he stated. “The opportunity this sector presents is an exciting prospect and I’m looking forward to playing a part in Audley’s future.”

Audley acquires sites, develops, and then operates retirement villages. It now owns a portfolio of 21 villages across the country. The group has two brands: Audley Villages, founded in 1991 and aimed at the luxury end of the market; and Mayfield Villages, a proposition with broader appeal.

The business plans to open its first Mayfield Village in Watford this autumn, alongside two Audley Village openings taking place this year.
