Audley appoints two firms for construction of £100m retirement village

Audley Group has appointed Henry Construction and Zenith Construction to lead a project.

The companies will be tasked with supporting the restoration and new-build phases of Audley Group's £100m retirement village, Sunningdale Park, in Berkshire.

The village will consist of 103 one, two and three-bedroom apartments and luxury cottages.

Henry Construction has been assigned delivery of the new-build properties on the 16.5 acre site.

Meanwhile, Zenith Construction will be responsible for overseeing the restoration of the historic buildings at the park, which includes Northcote House, the Lodges, the Stables, the Dairy, the Walled Garden and the Gamekeeper’s Lodge.

The properties all include a 250 year lease from Audley Group.

The centrepiece building, Northcote House, is a Grade II listed neo-Georgian mansion, originally built in 1931 by Sir Hugo Cunliffe-Owen, president of the British-American Tobacco Company.

Once complete, it will be home to the Audley Club with facilities including a library, restaurant and bar, swimming pool and luxury health club.

Audley Sunningdale Park is one of four new Audley Villages funded through a joint venture with the real estate arm of Schroders and Octopus Real Estate.

Kevin Shaw, managing director of Audley Group, said: “Audley Sunningdale Park will be another of our first-class retirement villages.

“We are excited to be moving ahead with the delivery of this location amid a surge in demand.

“The retirement living housing model continues to prove its worth in keeping people safe, especially at this current uncertain time.

“We’ve worked successfully with Henry and Zenith on previous developments and we look forward to utilising their expertise in helping us realise our ambitions.”

Phil Wynn, managing director of Zenith Ltd, added: “We are thrilled that Audley has appointed us again as its construction partner for the Sunningdale Park village.

“We are looking forward to, in collaboration with Henry Construction, continuing to build our successful relationship with Audley Group on another much needed retirement village.”

Mark Henry, director of Henry Construction, said: “Audley Sunningdale Park is a fantastic project to be a part of.

“We’ve had great success working with Audley, in conjunction with Zenith, over the past few years and we look forward to continuing this strong relationship as the build progresses at Sunningdale Park.”
