An open letter to the Nationwide

Thanks for faxing me to say I’d missed things off the Mortgage Trading Exchange (mte) application – just a chance maybe that the data got lost at your end?

Thanks for confirming receipt of a paper print of the application – I understand you need a complete print ‘because the electronic data is difficult to view’. However asking me to send proofs that were enclosed is a bit much – why not ask your mailroom?

Thanks for explaining that a certified photo of a driving licence is not acceptable – you’d accept a photocopy – it’s a bit inconvenient to carry a photocopying machine – digital cameras are just so tempting. I’m not sure I understand the subtle difference between a photographed copy and a photocopy.

As for telling me the valuation was instructed when it wasn’t....

I’ll be a good boy and promise I won’t phone you for seven days – as instructed. I’ll keep a careful eye on that case-tracking system – if it ever gets updated.
