AMI membership Tops 6,500

AMI is the sole voice for mortgage intermediaries, offering its members access to clear, timely information on how regulatory changes will effect their business and advice on how to adapt and succeed beyond Mortgage Day. AMI has also built an unequalled relationship with the FSA and its influence has already delivered several major wins for intermediaries.

After just over six months of “being open for business” AMI now has over 6,500 members – and membership is growing faster than ever.

Chris Cummings, Director of AMI, commented:

“There are some people in the industry who still say mortgage intermediaries have not woken up to regulation and the impact it will have on their business. Our latest membership figures are proving them wrong. The emphasis is quickly changing from “why should I join AMI?” to “I better join AMI”.

“Whether intermediaries are planning to become directly authorised or appointed representatives, AMI is the only independent voice for the whole of the intermediary community.”

“Pleasingly, we are seeing an even spread of members across the country and at all different firm sizes, from the largest to the smallest. Intermediaries who have not yet signed up should make it a new year’s resolution to do so.”

Clear Cut Mortgages were the 6,500th member to join AMI. Ben Thompson, sales and marketing director of Clear Cut Mortgages, commented: “To reach the 6,500 milestone is a significant achievement for AMI, especially in such a short space of time. We look forward to working with AMI as we head into 2004.

“We will all face challenges over the next 12 months and a well-supported trade body has a central role in the debate.”
