Scottish Building Society has increased the maximum loan size on its self-build mortgages.

The society has raised the maximum loan size to up to £400,000 at 70% loan-to-value (LTV) and £350,000 at 80% LTV.

Paul Alexander, head of sales, said:‘Our self-build mortgage has helped members across Scotland build their own homes.

“Self-building is particularly popular in rural areas where plots are easier to find and we can also consider the use of Crofter's Grants in conjunction with self-build projects.

“By increasing the maximum loan size, we hope we will be able to help more people build their dream homes.”
