Rightmove: Mumbles top costal hotspot

Mumbles in Wales is the top costal hotspot in Great Britain, according to a study from Rightmove.

The average asking price of a property in Mumbles has risen by 47% since 2015.

As a result, the average property price has increased from £234,295 to £344,832.

The report outlines Sandbanks in Poole as the most expensive coastal location, with average asking prices of almost £1.2 million

Meanwhile, Seaford in East Sussex has seen the biggest annual increase in buyer searches of any place on the coast, with searches up 104% over the past 12 months.

Tim Bannister, director of property data at Rightmove, said: “Relocating to a coastal area is a dream move for many home-hunters and it is safe to say that lockdown has intensified that desire to live beside the sea for many people.

“Properties in seaside towns usually come at a premium, but what is fascinating about this list of coastal price hotspots is that there is a relatively wide range of price points.

“Mumbles has always been a popular destination among British holidaymakers and therefore it stands to reason that home-hunters would seek it out for their year-round fix of sand and sea.”
