Over 70% of its business was remortgage, as earlier today Connells Survey & Valuation revealed that remortgage activity has risen by 97% in the year to January.

Kevin Duffy, managing director, said: “Even if you allow for seasonally high remortgage volumes, and the impact of product transfers with the likes of Halifax, Woolwich and Clydesdale, the number of clients remortgaging was still exceptionally high.

“My own vibe is that many lenders are looking to get off to a fast start and that some are finally adopting the transitional arrangements which the MMR was meant to support.
