Andrew Healy has replaced Kevin Wilson as chief executive at Leek United after Wilson spent 14 years in the role.

He will remain in post until December, working to ensure a seamless handover to Andrew.

Healy, 51, joins Leek United from Bank of Maldives, the largest bank in the tropical nation, where he has been chief executive and managing director since 2014. He brings more than 25 years of experience in financial services to his new role, including over 10 years at chief executive and board level.

Rachel Court, the society’s chairman, said: “Following a rigorous selection process, I am delighted to announce Andrew as Leek United’s new chief executive.

“He shares our commitment to mutual values and excellent customer service, and his leadership, financial and commercial expertise will help to ensure that he builds on the Society’s continuing success.

“The Board was unanimous in its choice of Andrew to take Leek United forward; we very much look forward to working with him, and wish him every success.”

Healy added: “I am honoured to be given the opportunity to continue Kevin’s good work at Leek United.

“In an increasingly crowded and challenging financial services landscape, I look forward to helping to positively differentiate the society in a way that fully recognises its fine traditions, loyal members and hardworking staff.”

During his time with Bank of Maldives, the organisation has seen consistent improvements in profitability, risk standards and customer satisfaction and has received awards for innovation, progressive HR practises and investment in communities.

Healy was managing director for retail banking at Ulster Bank before spending five years as chief executive of Danske Bank in Ireland.

He started his career with NatWest and has worked in senior roles in both Europe and Asia. He is a current board director of the Asian Banking Association and a former chairman of the Northern Ireland Banking Association.

Born in Dublin, Ireland, Healy holds a first class master’s degree in business and a Bachelor of Science degree in financial services. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Banking in Ireland and a Chartered Member of the UK Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
