Just Mortgages predicts its self-employed division will have 500 brokers by 2022, according to director Carl Parker (pictured).

Speaking at the Just Mortgages Self-Employed Conference at the Belfry earlier this month, Parker confirmed that the division is on track to be 240 brokers strong by January 2020 and up to 500 by 2022.

The self-employed division was set up in 2016 to offer a solution to brokers who are looking to be self-employed but were worried about the support from being employed.

There are currently 190 in the division with eight area directors set to join on the 9 September.

Carl Parker, director at Just Mortgages, said: “The broker is self-employed, and therefore, in control of their own destiny but they have a dedicated sales manager to help and support them.

“And, unlike other networks with self-employed arms, we don’t charge a monthly fee, so it is in everyone’s best interest for our self-employed brokers to be successful. In just three years, we have seen broker numbers go from three to 190 and we expect the popularity of the model to continue, helping broker numbers reach 500 by the start of 2022.”

Lending in the self-employed division has risen from £36m in 2016 to £700m in 2018, with this number expected to reach £1bn in 2019.

Just Mortgages is working with two lead providers to provide mortgage leads to the self-employed brokers.

Parker added: “With the two partnerships in place we will be generating hundreds of leads a day which our self-employed advisers can take advantage of if they want to.”
